Online Handi recommendation?
« on: January 18, 2013, 05:31:08 PM »
The cheapest I can find a .223 superlight is $308 locally.   Does anyone here have inside information on a cheaper online alternative and have a local FFL dealer transfer it to me?

Check Walmart first, then Bud's ($277 shipped), use one of the locators to find an FFL, Bud's has a list of dealers they use. You'll need to call and verify they're still licensed and how much they charge.

With my dealer Davidson's shows a price of 299 at my dealer and they include a lifetime warranty on the gun free of charge.  You'll have to change the zip code to your zip to get dealers near you.  ;)

I'd start with a local shop first. I ordered one from my local gun shop, he sets his price the same as is listed on Davidsons/GalleryofGuns. Could have done the same thing from home, but going in to do it in the store saved me the FFL transfer charge.

Pretty good deal for me. :)

I find that my local dealer's prices are so close to internet sales that it is silly to mess with having one shipped.  By the time you pay shipping and a dealer to run it through his books, the price is often the same.  Some dealers charge as little as $15, but some charge $45!  That's makes a big difference!  So check your local dealers prices first to buy the gun, then ask what they would charge to accept one you bought on line, then ask them if they would work with you with the price a little.  I'd rather help a local dealer make a few bucks even if I have to pay $15-$25 more, although like I said, my dealer comes out the same as ordering a gun and paying shipping.  44 Man

I like supporting my local guy, and Davidson's gives a cut to the local guy you go through.  Also, there's no separate FFL or Transfer fees with some of the dealers like mine at Jim's Gun Shop in Mount Pleasant...  The really nice thing is that you get a free lifetime warranty though and it came in handy on my .45 Colt Classic Carbine, since I was able to return it 3 times after shooting it because of bad chambers.  Since H&R doesn't have the lifetime warranty, it's a good deal to me.  ;)
