Front Sight - D&T or Dovetail?

I'm planning to take my 22" 44 Mag barrel to my gunsmith later this week to have it prepped for a front sight.  I'm going to use the standard Williams peep sight rear.  What gives me more front sight choices, drill and tap for sight like what was discussed earlier in a 45-70 thread or have a standard front sight dovetail cut? 

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated.

D&T with a front sight ramp, cause you will need a higher front sight anyway.  Course you could cut the dovetail, then get an adapter to screw the ramp on....

The 38-55 Target came with the Williams rear peep and a Lyman 17A (dovetail) front sight. I like the combination, but it might not be a good setup for hunting.

I had two .44 Mag barrels cut to 18" with NDS-38 rear peeps and Williams Fire Sight one piece ramps (0.634") drilled and tapped up front... you should definitely D&T, because you'll need considerably more height, dovetailing makes that problem worse. You can always D&T a dovetailed ramp... I did this on a .45/70 barrel, which has a Skinner Black Gold rear peep and a brass Skinner blade inserted in the Marbles dovetailed ramp.

D/T is 'cleaner' with more good options than the dovetail. A ramp set up looks classy on a single shot rifle.
For sure and certain the globe front is a fine target sight but not worth beans on a hunting rifle (been there, done that).
