Encore muzzle loader
« on: January 31, 2013, 05:06:38 AM »
I've never even fired an inline muzzle loader but I'm considering getting a barrel for my Encore. I hate the idea of paying for the expensive inline bullets such as Power Belts etc. Are there any bullet molds available that cast bullets that shoot well from one of these barrels and what other less expensive option are there?
Thanks, Mike

For accuracy my 50 cal. Encore likes a sabot but they are not legal in CO.   I've taken a couple of elk with the heaviest Platnium Power belts belts but I'm not happy with their performance.  The Hornaday 385 gr Great Plains is my favorite elk bullet and I have had great success with it in a Hawken and the encore over a 20 year period.  I think the R-E-A-L bullet mold closely resembles this bullet.
For white tail hunting in AR I just use the cheapest saboted 250gr.  bullet I can find.
