series 80 slide on a series 70 frame
« on: January 28, 2013, 08:09:23 AM »
:-\ Hi guys, I have a question for you fellows. I have a National Match/Gold Cup Colt slide, that I picked up a couple years back. It is made for 9mm/38 super size calibers. Colt made a few of these I understand. It is a Series 80 type slide, can I use it on a series 70 type frame?
Your help will be appreciated. I would assume mods would be in the offing, and it sure would make a dandy 38 super to carry. Thanks

to use a series 80 slide on a series 70 frame you must remove the firing pin block from the slide. Install only the firing pin and firing pin spring. Then you are good to go.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I thought you could but didn't know exactly what you had to do.
My son wants me to go with 38 super but I don't know. 9 mm would be more practical. I will have to
work this out. Thanks again

SharonAnne is right, thank ya Darlin' but if bcxs wants to install that slide on a 45 he will probably not be too awful happy with the way it feeds.
