I am not trying to bust your stones. There are a good many people that will help you. You need to read up on the regs. The course is in the fall each year.
I am new at this myself, I have been very successful. The major thing that has to be understood is the history of trapping and the future. There are less then 400 trappers in NJ. Trapping is always under fire from people who do not like it. All it takes is 1 accident and everything could change. I will gladly help you and alot of other people will also. The key thing is to go about it the right way. NJ is a high density state, you never know when you will find pets where you thought they weren't. right now the fox are rubbed out and not worth anything. Coons are starting to rub so their value is dropping. The only thing left is grey fox and rats. We don't have greys in this area.
read the game laws, sit back and learn.
Get your lic. and next fall I will show you the tricks I know.
There is a correct way to use lures with snares and many wrong ways. The same goes with bait. I got lucky and got instruction from 2 people with a combined experience of over 60yrs.
Here is a list of traps you need to get.
Live traps (coons)
110 conni's (muskrats)
I will help you out with the snares (laws may change)
