5.7x28
« on: February 04, 2013, 09:41:31 AM »
I tried a search and came up with a bunch of 25-06 threads  :-\. I also tried my google-fu and didn't find the answer to the question I have....  ETA:  changed search terms and found a few threads  ::). Time to dig into the reading.  Still share please if so inclined.

Has anybody rechambered a WMR Sportster barrel to 5.7x28?  I'm brainstorming here while I try to figure out to do with spare ammo I have laying around.  I have 5.7 and a bunch of Hornet too, but would trade the 192 hornet rounds for a barrel to rechamber if it would work.  My only concern is throat and twist differences.  The 5.7 case ends at the driving band on some CCI MaxiMag ammo I have, but OAL is a bit longer.  I appears that the case neck is also slightly larger on the 5.7, so the rechamber should be straight forward (extractor difference issue not withstanding).  For those more schooled in the Handi than I, would a stub be a better option?  I'm looking for a project that will require minimal outsourcing and I don't currently have access to a lathe.

I'd love links to existing threads, thoughts and input, or experiences shared.  Thanks.

TY Quick.  My search failed to find one of those.

Ibgp3, looking forward to reading about it.
