Actually being outraged at other peoples religion is unamerican and unconstitutional, not the other way around.

First amendment to the constitution of the United States of America.

Fact.

I would say that tying your religion to being part of a strong america is awesome, especially since there are so many people who pray to Allah that want to see America destroyed.

Muslims for America?  Sounds awesome!  You know how many problems that would solve????

I'm not muslim, and actually don't agree with some parts of the religion (like the part about killing people who are not part of the faith) but as in the bible and the christian religion.... it's all about how you interpret the book, right?

I have no problem with a national language. Just which language should that be? English as spoken in England, English as spoken in Australia, English as spoken in the southern USA,
English as spoken in the eastern USA, English as spoken in USA cities. English as spoken in the northern USA or which English did you have in mind?

Yo, I'm down wit dat. Gman gots to be down also. Playuh pleeze. What you think? ;D ;D ;D

This was an excercise for students to learn about different cultures not a slur against America or the flag. No one forced th students to do this. Everything was fine until someone picked Arabic.

I was in a courtroom last week for a client where several people had been sworn in. I noticed there was no mention of God whatsoever as in so help you God. Just do you swear to tell the truth the
whole truth, and that was it . What a circus, even the other people in the courtroom were looking at
each other in astonishment. Does anyone here know if that can be just a judges decision or is that
the way its all headed ? The whole thing felt like there was no air of authority in that room.
Anna, i have thot about this very thing before and i have no doubt that if i were confronted with the situation i would be held in contempt. I was imediately ask...." swear to who? " . I would also refuse to swear to anyone except God the creator of the universe.
So, since it is ilegal to make any meantion of God in the courtroom now, i have no doubt i would be arrested for resfusing to swear until it was afirmed that i was swearing to God and noone/nothing else.

By allowing the adulteration of the pledge we risk losing the meaning behind the icon it honors.  The first freedom fighters to carry that flag weren't followers of any God but the Christian God of our founding fathers, Protestant, Catholic, Shaker, Quaker, Puritan.....same God.  Bastardizing the ode to that flag desecrates the efforts of those who have carried and fallen for that banner.  The same with desecration of our Flag....allowing it turns it into nothing more than a rag....to be used to incite anger in the hearts and minds of those who choose to hold it dear and remember what it represents....Patriots.

Just my honest opinion, if those sentiments and beliefs make me a radical then so be it.

 Very well said johnpaulh !!!
To the point and the truth ! I agree with you 110%.
It amazes me how many people just can't grasp these simple truths. But then, i often get the feeling that they can but are afraid to say so.

Meant to honor the christian god of our founding fathers?????  So you mean the first amendment of the constitution was just a giant hypocritical joke??????

This country was founded so people did not have to endure religious persecution like you are suggesting.  If you want to be a religious extremist, there are plenty of other countries where you will have lots of friends.

You know.... you would fit in REALLY well in the middle east, they have no tolerence for other beliefs.

Excuse my ignorance. Has it not been a custom for many years to accept an Affirmation to tell the truth by Catholics instead of " Swear". What meaning would it have for a Unchristian to place his hand on the Bible?

" One Nation, indivisible under God". I am a Christian so that statement to me means the Christian God. Would another citizen who has differing beliefs think the term God to mean the one they worship also?
This was not about any disrespect but about differing languages.

What is the name of the Christian God anyway? I like call out Father God, Father, Heavenly Father and sometimes even Almighy Father.  Some will say Jehovah or Yaweh but those aren't english in origin. So would someone educate me on the english name for the Christian God?

Much whining about nothing. Muslims use 'Allah' to refer to the God of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob... the God that spoke to Moses... and supposedly, to Mohommad... all the same.

This upsets some American Christian fundamentalists, who - heh heh - have a lot in common with the ayatollahs & mutaween...
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I would say the name really doesn't matter.  It's what's in your mind and heart that matters.

I've said the pledge of allegience a million times, said "under god" every single time.  Those two words still mean absolutely nothing to be.

I think that if saying "Allah" is an important reference for them, because that holds meaning to them, that is what they should say.   The pledge of allegiance shouldn't be made into a public thing.

Pledging your life and loyalty to something is a very personal thing and should be done to the fullest of one's beliefs.
