I had a bit of range work to do and took my M44 Mosin Nagant Carbine along since I hadn't shot it in a while. Our range has steel starting at 200yds and goes out to 1050. There is an elk at 485yds and a buffalo at 535yds. I raised the sight to the 5 mark and shot about 2 feet over the buffalo. Dropped it to 3 and smacked it! Held a bit lower on the elk and was rewarded with yet another hit. Considering the front sight almost completely covers the target at that range, I was pretty happy. I was making hits about 50 per cent of the time past 400yds. Gotta love those old Russian rifles!
