just got rock river arms ar15 have some questions
« on: August 21, 2007, 07:18:47 AM »
well i finally broke down and bought the gun i have wanted since i started showing interest in guns and hunting, i bought a rock river arms ar 15, it is the mid length a4 model with a flat top to scope mounting, i had to order it so i dont have it yet i plan on putting my konus 6-24-44 scope on it and was wondering if burris signature zee rings (high mount version) would work on this rifle (as far as the scope bell clearing the forearm and such) or do i have to get some other type of scope mount? just trying to get everything ready for when it finally comes in. thanks

Hazard,

You'll like the RRA, I love mine other than waiting 16 weeks to get it in! The Burris High Sig Zee rings will not be high enough unless you use RRA's Riser Base (#AR0136ASY) or something similar. I wanted to use just rings and eliminate the riser, I have a Leupold 6X18X40 on mine and the ring height is .750 measured from the bottom of the scope tube to the flat on the ring where it contacts the Picatinny rail. That puts the scope the right height to see thru (for me) and gives about .300 clearance between the Objective and the handguard. A 44mm scope obj will reduce that to approx .220 clearance.
Hope this helped!

Dwayne

hey thanks for the reply, yea im getting tired of waiting and ive only waited like a week and a half, but o well, plenty of time to pay for it i guess, i ended up buying, the rock river high riser scope mount (part #ar0130) and it seems like it will be the best way to go, i cannot wait to get it, hope it shoots well.  if anyone has any feedback on how the mid length 16 inch barrell rra ar15 shoots and 100 yrds + hopefully good. for what i paid for it , it sure better be a good shooter.

thanks
