22 Mags. at Wal-Mart
« on: February 03, 2013, 04:50:51 AM »
I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and saw they had some 22 Mags. on the shelf so I got a couple boxes and proceeded to check out. The little girl at the register asked if they were for a pistol or rifle ::) . I thought about saying they were for a pistol just to hear the alarm sound and see the ATF agents crawl from under the rocks and surround and search me. But I was afraid I would be trampled by the stampede of customers trying to get out of the store to get away from the ferocious terrorist. So I told her it was for my rifle and left.
Does this mean they won't work in my pistol? ;) Darn, I was hoping to use them in either. Should I go back and confess? :-\
I sure am glad Wal-Mart is doing their part in controling those nasty gun owners.

im not sure but i beleive if you answer pistol to the question, then someone has to take the ammo to the front where you can pick it up at the managers desk. im not sure if its that way in every store.

Depending on the state, they may have a restriction on buying ammo that will fit in a pistol to people that are allowed to buy pistols so 21.  They may have ID you.
Most casheers do not know why it just pops up on the screen and if they hit yes, then they ask for ID.
I used to have a problem getting 22's in NJ for my rifle as they will not sell anything that fits in a pistol to anyone under 21.

I remember when such a law cursed Virgina.  If it was pistol ammo, you had to show ID and sign for it.  That sort of craziness is coming back.
BTW, .22 Magnum is my favorite rifle cartride of all time.

Does anyone here think the ammo drought might be connected to the 400 million dollars DHS is spending on ammunition? The rumor I heard was that DHS was trying to buy all of the ammo produced for public sale.

Gander Mountain  does the same thing around here.  You have to be 21 to buy pistol ammo here. Ignorant fools think they are doing something with this law...

I think that was an excellent answer eastbank!  I think I'll try it if I'm asked - fun to see the bewilderment.
