need a good bait!

Hey guys, I mostly fish in pay lakes and a small river near my house. I am in the need of a simple bait that REALLY works... If any one has a good home made bait that works could u let me in on it? thanx for any help!

I buy a pack of stir fry beef at the grocery and leave it set out for a couple of days, it stays on your hook real good. Works good for me. Hope this helps.
