Texas teen sues parents to stop them from forcing her abortion  Published February 13, 2013
FoxNews.com    A pregnant Texas teenager is suing her parents to stop them from forcing her to abort her unborn child.
Click2Houston reports a judge issued a temporary restraining order to prevent the abortion while the case is ongoing.
 
The 16-year-old, who is identified only by the initials R.E.K. because she is a minor, claims in the lawsuit her parents are coercing her to abort her 9-week-old fetus through both verbal and physical threats and harassment.
"(The father) stated he was going to take her to have an abortion and that the decision was his, end of story," a copy of the lawsuit obtained by Click2Houston says.

The lawsuit claims R.E.K.'s parents kept her home from school, took her phone and car and that she, the father of her child and the child's paternal grandmother have been harassed by her father. It also claims R.E.K.'s mother suggested she was going to slip her daughter the abortion pill.
 
R.E.K is being represented by attorney for the Texas Center for Defense of Life.
"...She is legally protected. They cannot drag her to get an abortion, force an abortion on our client," attorney Stephen Casey told Click2Houston.
Under Roe v. Wade a woman has a right to decide whether she wants an abortion and under Bellotti v. Baird a teenager has the right to make her own decisions concerning her reproductive health.

The girl is a minor.....the parents get to tell her what to do; and the government should stay out of this matter entirely.  If she wants to emancipate herself then she should and do it quickly.  Perhaps some of the good folks here will invite her to live with them.

She is already living with the parents of her boyfriend.  I would let her come here if necessary to save the life of her baby.  so would many Christians.

Read the last line of his post.  it's the first step by liberals to accuse Christians of advocating life, but not willing to foot the bill for the baby.
and as usual are way off base.  I'm into foster programs along with many friends and family.
and those foster programs sometimes include a young girl and her unborn child.
I'm trying to stop unwarranted accusations before they start.

Mandated abortion is what China has.  As for parents having the right to control a child's life; how about the free birth control provided by some, the "right" to have an abortion without informing parents.  Or how about if the parents decided she would bring in income by prostituting?

Apparently her mother and father both lack in parenting 'skills'. Other wise maybe this child wouldn't be in this situation.  It amazes me how so many 'parents' think they own thier children. If only more people would relaize that each and every child is a blessing, a gift directly from God and our responsibility to raise them in His name for His glory. I will pray that this girls' parents would come to that realization and do everything that they can to see this girl not only thru her pregnancy, but thru the raising of this child, THIER grandchild.This girl, her family and her unborn child need our prayers. Not our judgement or opinions.
