Well,I filled my last tag with a big doe. I've passed up a couple of chances at 120 sized bucks, hoping for a shot at a huge ten pointer I've been seeing occasionally. But it was not to be. Every time I'd see him he was either too far away, or I was out of position. :'( But, as a friend of mine says, "any deer you get in last muzzle loading season is trophy that you worked hard for!" ;D

Still it was a good season, I shot one with my flint long rifle, one with my old cap lock, Frankenstien, and one with my Traditions inline. Three shots, three deer....and a freezer full of venison! I also shot that coyote. Got to see a lot of other game animals...LOTS of turkey, plenty of rabbits & tree rats, a few pheasants, and multiple coveys of quail. Got to watch some bald eagles, several barn owls, a great horned owl, lots of Red Tail Hawks, and one falcon.

I'm content. :)

My flinter is one I built from scratch years ago. It has a 42" barrel, plain cherry wood stock, a very early Dixie Gun Works rock lock, all put together in a Pre Revolutionary style.

My cap lock rifle is.....Frankenstien! Frank was built out of the parts bin, literally! It has a CVA St Louis Hawken .54 barrel, a Harrington Richardson lock, Lyman sites, TC thimbles, an Ohio style trigger guard, the butt plate was made from a large piece of brass hinge stock, and the stock was carved from two pieces of walnut that I clamped and glued together before carving it. Frank is ugly as hell! But it's made meat more than any other gun I've ever owned, and won quite a few matches in years gone by!
