30/223

Hello and Good Morning:

Do any of you use or know anything about the 30/223 Cartridge ?? I just got my barrel from Steve Stratton of Virgin Valley this Wednesday. Currently just to shoot it, I have used my data for my 7 MM TCU, and it has worked fine. I will slowly increase these loads, until I can reach my goal of extreme accuracy and performance. I am sure this one will approach the 30 Herrett, which I also have.

Anyway, if anyone has any loading data, please share with me. Thanks in advance.

Interesting! I have been thinking about one of those myself. What are you using for dies? Do you have a drawing for the reamer he used? What twist rate did you go with? Anything else you'd share? Thanks!

Hello again:

I don't know what type/kind of reamer Steve used. My twist is 1/10 twist, good for up to 220 grain bullets. I am using 300 Whisper dies, but plan on buying a 3 die set from C & H 4/D. I think they will do better in the long run than the 300 Whisper dies I have on hand.

Still experminting with load data. This one is really going to be a beauty. Tom Beall shot the highest scores in all the early ISHMA matches, and so unfortunate, he was killed in a car crash.

As I go along, I'll keep you posted. The cases are extremely easy to make with the C&H dies. Matter of fact, I have some "homemade" dies that I use to open up case necks to just about any size I want. I shoot many calibers on the 223 case.

Hope this helps.
