300 WIN MAG FEDERAL POWER-SHOK
« on: December 25, 2012, 12:11:20 AM »
In the past three weeks, I have visited every Walmart in Nebraska stocking this product
and bought up every box at $17 per box, which is cheaper than buying brass alone.

It feels good to have bought out the entire state of anything!

Price was right. 45 boxes total.

What weight bullet Tom? I used the same ammo, in 150 (it is the sierra Pro Hunter I'm pretty sure) in a 300 WM on Texas Hill country deer. It performed like Nosler partitions, and didn't bloodshot a lot of meat either. I think you did good!

I did the same thing at walmart a few years back. they had rem corelock 6mm ammo for 10 bucks a box. About as cheap as brass. I took all 14 boxes they had. The lady at the counter kind of raised an eyebrow when checking me out.

Really good buy, esp. now. 300WM ammo has become scarce in these parts, lumped in with 308 & 223, 22lr as well.

Yes. I called Cabela's 24 times today just to get a person who worked at the gun counter.

They had something I wanted VERY badly.

I did something sort of similar at my local Walmart.  They had the Federal Power Shok 7mm Rem Mag 150 gr SP for just $17.97 a box.  I thought that was a great deal, so I kept buying a box or 2 every time I stopped by.  The catch?  I have never owned a rifle chambered for that cartridge!  But, my farmer in Montana and his daughter both use the 7mm Mag on everything from coyotes to antelope to hogs to deer to elk, so I found a home for the 6 boxes I had impulsively purchased last year.  And since he has put me up the past 2 deer seasons and got me on a pair of really nice whitetail bucks, I figured it was the least I could do.

I did the same as tomtom for 180gr 300wm but in Maine they are 19.95 per box but I still thought that was ok.
