Talo is a distributor that buys and distributes special edition firearms. Special Edition firearms from H&R require a minimum purchase of at least 250 firearms.

The H&R Talo Trappers were offered a coouple years ago in 357 and 44 mag on SB1 frames as well as SB2 45-70, all had palletwood stocks, Williams WGOS barrel sights on 18¾" barrels, also drilled and tapped for a scope base.

Might not be a big seller for $400+ since the BC stock set adds about $100 to the cost, that's why the BC Carbine was dumped when H&R started trimming their product line in 2008, it just didn't rate the sales, we were told then they would be trimming the fat and only making/selling their best sellers. Prolly the same reason the Topper line was discontinued(walnut stocked TDC & Trap gun in particular), the Pardners just sell much better. :-\

Even if they only made $10 each (for instance) on a gussied up version like this and more on the others like they are offering now it is still a profit and developing market share and customer loyalty; how does a company value that? We can tell how much they value that by what they are offering. A future of a company has to have a vision of a future beyond just cutting the product line to the bone. Doing that, IMHO, is a slow route to demise.
For instance, they already are paying somebody to screw on a stockset, it isnt going to cost them any more to put on BC or CR or TDC wood (note I said 'put on'), just charge for the wood 'upgrade' in the pricing structure. This isnt 'rocket science', its marketing 101.
Im stepping off my soapbox now and going to my corner..........nurse, my meds please :-\ .

Cost to make the stock is where it's at, H&R makes their own wood stocks at the Ilion plant, at least as of Jan 2010, checkering can't be as cheap as a plain palletwood stock.

My bet is the next cost cutting move is pallet wood starts to disappear and plastic takes over.

Just remembered that Gunstocks Inc has the BC shape walnut stock blanks on sale for $30 in 'odds and ends', and the walnut forends are $35.
