F-35 Not So Hot

"If you're just an everyday American, though, you should be downright shattered that after a decade and a fortune spent, the F-35 will actually be more vulnerable than the aircraft it's replacing. At this point, the Pentagon is literally rewriting its rule book so that the dumbed-down superjet will pass muster."
I told you so......

And more expensive than the F-22 which was a much better choice.

Typical... The govt provide a "design by comittee", even if it defies the laws of physics. A contractor takes on the project knowing the govt requirements CAN'T be met and tries to advise changes along the way which the govt refuses. Tis is nothing new.............
Just another worthless opinion!!

What were they actually designed to do? I know the F22 and the F35 are much the focus of debate, but I really don't know why.

Time will tell I guess. Sometimes new designs have a long "breaking in" period. The B-29 was a disaster at first, so was the F111.
I think the number was eleven test pilots killed in the P-38. The B-1 had its share of problems at first. The F-35 may turn out to be crap or a great plane.

...and it remained a maintenance pig, always

...so was the F111.
and it never made it as a fighter, which is what it was supposed to be

true
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.
