Didn't read the link, but the title of this thread is incorrect on it's face. I'll read it outa curiosity but people should understand that each state is (supposed to be) sovereign and each state has it's own Constitution; which they can amend. Once upon a time these sovereign states got together and agreed to band together as a Republic and enacted a Federal Constitution. The member states of the union can amend the federal constitution by vote.
The Federal Constitution has no provisions for it's repeal. The only thing the Sovereignty's that belonged to it could do was leave the union. If all the member sovereignty's left, the union would simply cease to exist.
That was tried once... didn't work thanks to the arch constitutional criminal type president at the time... kinda like the current one... even though I appear to have been the only one that got upset when said current president uttered the words "If Congress doesn't act, I must!"
Anyway, when the states that I eluded to in the paragraph above left the old union, they created a new one, a confederation like the one that originally linked the thirteen American colonies after the revolution. This new Confederation had it's own constitution. When the member states were conquered by the invading armies of the old union, the Confederation ceased to exist and it's constitution became nothing more then a historical document.
Nope, we can't repeal the Constitution. And nobody really wants to leave the Union as most people now think of themselves as "Americans," (U.S. of) first, rather then Virginian's or New Yorker's. And the thought of American's once again killing Americans in a political conflict should be unimaginable to us.
So what are we going to do?
