New barrel for Savage 99

 The wife inherited her Moms savage 99 in 243. I think because the chamber is rusty and wont eject a case after fire, or her brother would have nabbed it    . He took everything else.
 
Its been in the safe for a few years. She likea my 6 mm Remington but it has a varmit barrel and is heavy.
 
Is it possible to have a new barrel put on it. and if so can I get one from savage, or do I have to send it in? I know squat about savage.

That is what gunsmiths are for. Just pick one you like and talk with him. BTW, you may be able to polish out the existing chamber and get it to work if it's not too far gone. But again, consult your gunsmith.

BTW, I doubt you'll have any luck getting Savage to fix it.

Thanks, I figgered I could take it to a gunsmith, I was just wondering if savage might have a repair / replacement program. For some reason someone took off the front sight, and left the mount with the dovetail empty, The rear dovetail is empty also. The rifle is old and really only has sentimental value for my wife. It may can be replaced with a new axis or similar for what a new barrel and gunsmithing will cost. I saw it sitting lonely in the back of the safe and started wondering.
