pre 64 mod 70 parts
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:54:01 PM »
how easy is it to come by parts for these? i have found an receiver that is bare (long action 30-06).  are there places that carry bolts, bolt heads, firing pins, springs and all that? I am planning to build a rifle to hunt with and use at the range.  Is this something will be tangible for this receiver?

It could end up costing you as much as a good used rifle to get these parts but try.

They seem to have all sorts of hard to find parts.

Also try Jack First he has some and he makes some, but the cost of just building up that reciever is going to be high, I would hate to guess the cost of a complete bilt assy. what geezerbiker said will hold true.  HTH   Jim

Walk don't run from that money pit!  Give the money to a toddler instead, and let her flush it down the toilet.  It will have been better spent.

Plenty of wonderful pre-64s in long action out there at very reasonable prices.   You will blow double that amount with this project.

By way of example, an orginal stock for the pre-64, in VG condition, will cost you about $425,  IF you can find one.
