Opinion on CVA center fire rifles
« on: February 16, 2013, 12:54:43 PM »
I have the opportunity to buy a brand-new CVA 243, at a reasonable price. Have never owned one or shot one. Would like to have some opinions on them. If there any good or a piece of junk. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

They market them as Bergara over here (Australia), I have a Scout .222Rem and think it's a great piece of gear. The first 100 yard 3 shot group I did was less than 1/2 inch and have repeated that with 3 different projectiles so it was no fluke.

It feels real nice in the hands and shoots good, what else could you ask for?

As a side note when I told my 20 year old som what I had brought, he thought I was crazy. First time he picked it up he changed his mind.

Cheers,
Waldyo

I picked up a CVA  Scout in 243 win. recently also.  Being winter here in Ohio I have not spent much time shooting it yet.  I fired about 10 rounds of factory 100 gr. Rem cor loks to get it sighted in at 100 and the last 4 shots were in a group the size of a quarter.  I have handled it alot and really like the way it points, balances and being a left hand shooter the gun feels real good to me.
Im not really a fan of black synthetic stocks  but other than that the gun is great, much nicer than what I thought it would be.   I am very happy with mine.   :)          jedman

You'll find more info on CVA arms in the CVA/Knight forum.  ;)

My collection of CVA center fire rifles has grown pretty fast.  Academy sells them for under $200.00.    With hand loads the first three turned it sub moa shooters.  The others are close to moa minus my Optima Elite in 243.  That being said I think for the money these are as good as any of the other bargained base single shot rifles.
