Shock Absorption for the scope.

Ok I have another question. Have any of you seen or used the shock absorbing type "glove" thing that fits over your scope between the recticles to absorb the recoil of the 50 cal. load and does the Huntsman really need one? I think the one I saw was made by Knight. If I choose to use one of the under $100 rifle scopes will I need one?

I never shoot more than 100gr. in any of my muzzleloaders.
Recoil is not a factor. Although at 6'5" 210lbs, I suspect my frame absorbs
some "kick"! I love Tasco Pronghorn scopes, for shotguns, and muzzle.
The only trouble is in rain, the outside  of the glass collects moisture.
Probably non coated lens. I have solved this by putting on NAPA windshield rain slick, or whatever it's called. Again, for me the Huntsman
has no recoil... Hope this helps....Scotty

To be totally straightforward with you, I have never seen/heard of a shock absorbing cover that you are talking about.  About the only thing that I have seen is a cover that Knight sells that fits between the rings of the scope above the breech of the muzzleloader.  It's used to protect the finish of the scope from the powder residue expelled during firing.

lik2hunt...I'm with Cattleskinner on this one.  I have never seen such an item.  Do you have a pic you can post or a link where we can view one?  I'm curious...

Boy do I feel stupid   and a little  :x  I just came from their website and obviously what I was looking at was their "scope protector" The guy that was the owner of the place where I was looking at it was trying to tell me it absorbed the shock of recoil and saved your scope from loss due to it. Never said anything about just protecting from BP residue. I was wondering how something like that could absorb shock.
Man I wish there was somebody honest left in this business  :x  :x  :x

The important thing is that you aren't out the money based on that scam.  I might be inclined to stop back at that shop and ask the gentleman just how that little item absorbs shock and then call him on it.  Might not get anything done but it might make you feel a little bit better...It's just sad that you cannot trust everyone out there.  Maybe this guy is just really dumb and that is what he thought it was?  :?
