A buddy of mines father passed and he got all his guns. Unfortunately he's broke and selling them. He took them to a gun shop and sold 8 or 10 to them, he called me while he was there and said they'd offered him $400.00 for the marlin, should he sell it? NO I said. Gotta be worth more than that.
I don't have it in front of me and he said he couldn't find a serial number but he told me the guy at the gun shop said it was a very early 1893 in .38-55. Said it was in 60% condition. I have seen the rifle and agree that condition was good, but the colors were almost gone from the receiver, blue seemed ok in most places. Barrel seemed good. Action seemed to work fine. Longish 24-26" barrel, full octagon.
Is 400 about half what this rifles worth?
Thanks! J
