Can't Part With It...P-85 MK2

Last sunday a guy offered me $400 for my P85 MK2. My inner voice said keep it. I purchaced it new in 1989 I think. It is Ruger's 1st model of a centerfire auto pistol. It has , god only knows , how many rounds through it. It has never malfunctioned or jammed and has digested every type of ammo offered to it. I recently purchaced a Springfield XDm 3.8 9mm. The P85 cant match the XDm's accuracy but it has stone 100% reliability and soul. That is why I think it a keeper.

I have carried one for years.  I bought mine second hand, but it has performed flawlessly.  I have a Ruger 1911, and many GP-100s and GP-101s, But the P-85 is my go to gun for carry.

I do not have a P85 but I do have a P89 which is the improved model and I know what you mean by reliability.  I have had malfunctions and jams with every semi auto I own except for the P89.  I have put thousands of rounds through mine of all sorts of handloads and factory ammo and it has been 100% reliable.

I bought one a couple years ago for $175.  I was not extracting, so I pulled the extractor off and added a little more tension to it and it has perked right along since then.  It's a great gun for a full size service gun.  I usually end up carrying my Commander or PF9 and the P-85 gets regulated to range use at the bowling pin matches.  Enjoy that gun, it's a great one!  Ruger has always over-engineered their guns to be reliable under most any circumstances.  44 Man

Not to split hairs but the MKII was the second generation of the P85.  The MKII safety upgrade doesn't have a different value than the original when comparing shooter grade guns but an unfired, in the box gun brings a little more without the MKII upgrade. You still have one good shooting gun that seems to be unbreakable.
