CZ 527 221 Fireball
« on: March 03, 2013, 08:06:23 AM »
I have had other 527s, several other 452s etc., I have looked at others in shops and pictures online, but have never seen one like this rifle. The barrell bluing doesn't match the receiver at all, in fact the barrell seems to be more browned with a slight purple undertone. Has anyone else seen a CZ rifle like this? Is it a fluke of the bluing process?

I had a Remington 700 than had a similar condition. I asked a gunsmith about it and he said the barrel was contaminated with oil or not hot enough when it was blued. I have no experience with blueing but he did it for a number of years.

I was thinking it must have been something like that. It reminds me of some of the old black powder finishes, except glossy. I just know I have never seen one this colour??
