Using lee .452 230gr Lrn and a .430 240gr swc moulds and was casting this weekend, the bullets are dropping out at 240 for the 45 and 250 for the 44? This is odd because every other mould I have from lee is on the money for weight. I think it might be my alloy, I'm using scrap lead that I picked up and it's on the softer side. It passed the L A R test ( looks about right ) but something is amiss. What do you guys think? Can an alloy make that big of a difference in weight? Don't know if it helps but this stuff was a PITA to cast, every bullet was wrinkled until I turned the heat up more than I usually do. Never had a problem with my casting to date so this has me scratching my head. Maybe I just got some crap lead?
