.257 barrel
« on: March 26, 2013, 10:58:40 AM »
I now have a 28" shilen match grade 257 10 twist barrel.  Barrel shank is 1.25 inches.  I would like to make a 250 savage.  Could a savage axis or marlin 22-250 be used at the donor?  thanks.
When a boot is on your throat does it matter if is the right boot or left boot?

If the Marlin is one of the X series the answer is yes. Your choice of the 250Savage is "EXCELLENT". Mine is built on a Savage 10 action and is the love of my gun life. I have two 25/06's, two 250 Ackleys, and a 257Roberts but the 250/3000
is my love. GO FOR IT!!!
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!!!

Thank you very much.  I had one in the late sixties and seventies.  Young and dumb and traded it.
