Tasking for Rivercat

Rivercat,

Are there any traveling carriages for siege mortars in you collection?  I am Looking to see color, bolt and hardware mountings to replicate what I am building.  If you have any,  could you take pictures of all 5 sides...six if you can tip it  up to see the bottom.

An interesting project Douglas, what era images do you need? Georgian? Mid Victorian? Late Victorian?
Let me know & I'll have a look in case I have something. Adrian

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Hi Mate, no we do not have anything like this in the collection . I am trying to sort out a trip in the next few weeks to the Fire power museum at Woolwich london along with the Royal Armories collection at Fort Nelson in Portsmouth. I am sure one of these may have something along those lines and if they have I will take some piccies for you.

What year/model of mortar is this?
Is it a U.S. model?
Is that pic from Mexican war?
Thought I have seen another pic of one of these somewhere else before but wasn't looking for it at the time.
I think that guy is holding 2 sacks of gold.

Don't know about year/model or caliber (IIRC 8in or similar), but I think it was a british mortar made by Bailey Pegg & Co (?).
This photo is from the Second Anglo-Boer War, circa 1900. The Boers called the mortar "seeppot" (soap pot) or something similar. Certainly one of my favorite historic war photos.

I have located the source of the drawing above. I have also locate the source for the source of the drawing above.  I will post the details in my Bowling ball mortar post.  I have some other updates on that subject also.
