Well I can't answer that, but I use CCI 209M for my ML with Blackhorn and have had great results.  It's a hot primer that get it going on.

With nothing to support my ansewer other than BR cases , I would say small rifle primers are more uniform. Remington Bench Rest cases come in 308 and they have small primer pockets vs standard 308 cases which have LR pockets and are used in competition in 308 form and often used to form other cases like 6.5 BR or 7BR .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Back when I used to muzzleload, I had a breech plug that allowed a 25 acp brass and a small primer could be rifle or pistol.  They idea was that the 209's were hot, but provided more initial pressure and at times unseated the bullet before ignition was complete, therefore decreasing accuracy.  The smaller primers were plenty hot, just not as much ignition pressure.  They in turn would give tighter groups.

The acp case allowed you to experiment with 4 different levels of ignition, SR, SRM, SP, SPM.

My muzzleloader really shot well with it.

I THINK THIS HAS SOME RELATION TO THE OP'S QUESTION.  MAYBE???

The 25 ACP conversion was recommended for 777, I used one on my encore and shot well.  When I get sick of the crud ring I switched to BH209 and will likely never go to anything else. Unfortunately BH209 needs a hot primer and the 25ACP is not adequate.

I used SR and SRM for all of the subs I shot.  Never had a problem with them or BP.  However, as Buckskin stated, the new stuff "smokeless powder with smoke" requires a hotter ignition.  If I was shooting the stuff, I  would probably try one of the LR primer conversions.

Largerifle magnum primers are what the folks shooting bh209 in cartridge guns are finding to work the best.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....
