300 AAC Blackout Handi Rifle
« on: March 30, 2013, 10:06:07 AM »
Greetings,
finally got my grubby hands on a 300 Blackout,  smaller than I figured, bought one with out seeing it 1st hand.
stock could be a little longer for me . Also picked up the 300 blackout Jig to cut down the 223 brass to convert them into blackout brass.  Have ordered the dies and shell length gauge should be here mid next week. So all in all I can pickout the best Birthday presents for myself , In my opinion.

So, my question is what loads are you using ?   how is the blackout performing for you ?

casca,

147g FMJBTs over a starter load of AA1680 shoots well out of my 1:10 twist stubbed 300AAC.
I am currently working with the Lee 230g cast boolit over H110 but the loads are for an AR platform 300 BO.  I may try them in my Handi 300 BO at some point.

I have been thinking about a 300aac upper , wanted to try the 300 blackout to see how they are to work with.
the handi is kinda small . Would have been great if they did this to a heavy barrel instead.

From what I read the 300 BO comes with the standard youth stocks from H&R so it would be compact and light.  Any H&R stock will fit it so buy what ever you want to change LOP and make it heavier.

I just bought a single shot 300 BLK, first thing I did was to make a rim cut so I can use 357 mag brass and run it through the BLK dies.  Brass is much easier to come by, no trimming, and a rim!  It also works with the regular 300 brass.  Not for the AR, but in this platform it makes sense.

You know I believe they make barrel weights that screw onto threaded barrels to just add weight but not suppression.  That could be one way to add a little foreheft. ;)

I also just got a Handi rifle, waiting on dies but made my own jig for the chop saw.  Sure is a "handi" little rifle.  My barrel is a 7" twist so it will be interesting to see how it does. Hope I won't be limited to only the heavier bullets.  I want to try my309  Lee 200 gr lead in this. anyone have any experience with this type  bullet ?
