My personal preference
« on: April 17, 2013, 09:22:23 AM »
After years of bows and arrows and tons of fun and many successes of different sorts I have come to certain preferences in my equipment, in particular my bows and broadheads. I have shot many traditional bows and around eight years ago I went for some shooting lessons at Toelke Traditional Archery. I knew Dan from his days as manager of Ronan Sporting goods before he quit and became a full time bowyer. After a couple of lessons with my bow and NO SALES pitch I picked up one of his recurves and instantly wanted one. The craftsmanship and design were outstanding and of all things it shot the best I all the bows I have owned or shot. Well to this day all I shoot are Toelke bows and in particular his one piece Whips. I still have that original recurve and shoot it a few times a year but my go to bow is my 2 favorite Whips. Both 51# and 60". The feel and accuracy is still the best I have experienced to this day.
In the broadhead department I shot Zwickey for there toughness and my ability to get them shaving sharp.  They preformed well but I began to have quality isses with them fitting properly on the tapers of the adapters. Most of them mounted up perfect but about 1 in a dozen wouldn't. They would be a sloppy fit. As I was discussing this I was introduced to STOS and gave them a try. WOW!!! They absolutely fly like a field point,  are TOUGH and I can get them so sharp I want to wet myself when I handle them. 8)  Everything I look for in a broadhead is in one package!
BTW I was told STOS satnds for Slicker Than Owl Shxx.  ::)

I agree with you on the Zwickeys. Quality has gone down. I shot 2 blade Eskimos in the past, then started shooting the Magnus 2 blade and used them to kill a LARGE black bear, a couple of muleys and a whitetail. Switched to Wenzel Woodsmans about 5 years ago and love them. Easy to sharpen and no wind planing like I sometimes got with the 2 blade heads.
