Got my new Fox Pro Fury 2
« on: April 02, 2013, 07:52:42 PM »
OK I now have the new Fury 2.  100 sounds, many of which I'll never use here in Alaska.  But a bunch that I will use.  Plus the capability of adding sounds my friends have recorded and are burning to CD to give me.  The only problem is this thing is complicated.  Someone needs to give a course in operating the remote.  So many buttons, dials, and menus.

I found a small cooler that it just fits in.  Cut a 3 1/4" hole in the side of the cooler.  The speaker fits up against the hole.  I got some low expanding foam, taped all the openings, then covered the unit with plastic.  Sprayed the plastic with a release agent (Pam), then set it in place and sprayed the foam along the bottom, and part way up the side.  Just enough to cradle the unit, and hold it in place.  The caller lies on it's side with the buttons up.  Once the foam had cured overnight, I pulled the unit out, man it was tight.  Removed all the tape, and cleaned the Pam off the foam.  Got a rubber gasket from the hardware store plumbing dept.  It's a snug fit between the end of the unit and the side of the cooler.  Took it out for a test run this afternoon.  With the cooler closed it works just fine at 75 yards.  Did not feel like wading through snow to get farther.  Now when I take it out, I can drop one of those chemical heat packs down in the cooler to keep the Caller warm, helps the batteries last longer.  Since the heat pack don't get hot enough to hurt you, they won't over heat the Caller.  Several of my friends have done this for years.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

As an added bonus it'll probably float, which could come in handy on some of your adventures... ;) ...Scott B.

Good descision trying to keep it warm, I have had my foxpro wildfire out a few times recently in -10 to -15 celcius and it shuts off if i try and crank the volume above 17-18 out of 20 levels. This is a major problem because you now can't use it without getting busted trying to walk out and turn it back on again so once it happens its back to mouth calls for the rest of that hunt, atleast the decoy is still working though. Not sure if this is designed to protect the unit speaker from damage, a few times it was so cold that the unit was caked in heavy frost.

Tomorrow morning its not supposed to be as cold so i hope i can break my coyote slump tomorrow, its been about 4-5 hunts without even seeing one, the weather has not been good here though for this time of year.

Might try the hot packet idea tomorrow myself just to be safe.
