Finished the new grips on my Contender. Fancy Black Walnut made by TC Dave who is on this site. Beautiful Workmanship and fit. I did the oil finish. This is an older frame Contender, 1973 vintage with a 17 Remington 14" Bull Barrel and an Older Burris 4x Pistol scope. It shoots 5/8" groups at 50 yd but the old eyes are having difficulty at 100 Yds. Any body have an opinion on going to a rifle scope with more magnification. I know less eye relief but 17 Remington has very little recoil if any.  What do you think, Thanks Thomtender

Nice furniture.
 
Up the scope anti with a 3-12 or 10X target handgun scope and you'll be shooting that 17Remy as far away as you want to shoot it with ease.   I've used Burris 3-12's (still have one NIB) and their 10X target on lots of my specialty handguns that were good to go for "hundreds" of yards depending on cartridge.   
 
Don't have a picture of the Contender 17Remy with the 3-12 on it, but do of a custom XP-100 223Remy wearing a Burris 10X Target.   On small diggers it was good to go to at least 350 yards with its tuned handloads.

Very nice setup TT, and Dave is one of the best, and a good guy too!
