Wild Country Outfitters in Maine?
« on: March 09, 2013, 05:49:08 PM »
I'm researching Black Bear guides and this one keeps coming up. Does anyone have experience with them? I can't find any contact info so if someone could pass that along?

Thanks,
Eric

I almost booked a hunt with this fellow last year ( economy forbade it) he is a super nice guy, and all his blinds/baits are set up so you shoot at 25yds. There was a fellow on Marlin owners (SixGunz Steve, who passed away later) who  was a reference, and I spoke with him. He shot some big honking bears there, also with a handgun, his boys used rifles and they too got good bears. I say he is a good bet for you, get in touch with him. Have a ball!

Lost his phone number, sorry. The Outfitter I talked to was Peter Koch, lived in Wade, Maine. Seems there is a couple lotfits named "Wild Country Outfitters", but he was the one that hunted close. The fellow named Steve I spoke of? He was killed on his Harley at 42 yrs of age, so be careful young man!

He might be because I couldn't find a website, however, you might contact Wade , Maine Chamber of Commerce and find out. The other Outfitters named Wild country ( there is two guys in the adverts) seems to take big bears, and up close too. They may be worth checking out. I have read that New Brunswick also has some huge bears, its just across the border there, of course. I think checking references is a must nowadays. Good intentions aren't enough to provide a good experience for a nonresident hunter, you want results! ha. Steve got T-Boned by a car "who didn't see him"...paint that Harley Fusia Pink! lol
