Henry Acu-Bolt

Any feedback or opinions on one of these in 22LR.  I would like some idea of accuracy and trigger performance

I have the .17 HMR Acu bolt. It is accurate. The trigger pull is okay, but the trigger itself is narrower than  I am use to. Mine came with a 4x scope which I swapped out for a 3-9x scope from my 10/22. The 4x scope works fine for the 10/22 shooting at 50 yds. The only other issue I had with the gun, and this may be germaine to the .17, was an occasional stuck case in the chamber. I take a wooden dowel with me to ram out the case when I shoot it. This problem seems to be going away as I break the gun in.

Thanks for the report!  If a person could very lightly polish the chamber (which I doubt I could myself in a chamber that small...), do you think that would eliminate the sticky cases?

I did to a little polishing with JB compound and like I mentioned, the problem has almost gone away. There seems to be some common issues with 17HMR cases splitting so I am guessing that could have contributed to the sticking cases. An occasional weaker that normal case expanding a little more in a tight chamber?

I too have been looking at this rifle.  I'm sort of a minimalist so I like the fact that the thing only has 28 parts and a very short action.  Love the sights, even the cocking piece.  Hate the stainless finish and the safety (not really needed with a cocking knob).  Would love to see the Mini-Bolt put on the Acu-Bolt stock so you would have about a 32" gun.  I hear they are very accurate but haven't had a chance to shoot one.

Henry sent me an AccuBolt to fit some custom sights to.  (and a Mini Bolt and Oct. barreled lever action .22)
I did some accuracy testing with common ammo and all three were VERY accurate.  Literally one ragged hole groups at 50' (what I had available indoors)   I was shooting them with Skinner Aperture (PEEP) sights installed.
The AccuBolt went out to the Gopher Patch with me and helped reduce the varmint population.  It was very efficient and suitable for the task...
I think there are still 4 or 5 AccuBolt sights in stock...  (not listed on the www.skinnersights.com website)

The Williams Fire Sights will do fine.  My only complaint would be spending $400 for a single shot rifle I have to spray paint with dull finish Krylon before i can even hunt with it.  For that price it should be "woods ready" and it's not.  It may seem picky but when people will spend extra to get a camo stock I just want a rifle that doesn't look like the crome bumper of a 58 Chevy.
