Can anyone recommend a good rifle/shotgun travel case?
« on: June 18, 2004, 09:14:59 PM »
I plan on doing some air travel in the next couple of years and want to bring a rifle and shotgun along for hunting trips.  Can anyone recommend a good double rifle/shotgun travel case?  Is a wheeled case worth the extra cost?  Thank you all for your help.

Thanks for the feedback.  Are the locks on the SKB cases adequate?

You probably don't want the Doskosil rifle case. I own one and wish I'd spent the extra money to get a better one. It's airline approved, but I wouldn't travel with it by plane unless I could duct-tape it shut. You can't close it unless it's on a truly level surface.  It gets the job done for me, because I just need something that protects it while driving. One advantage to it is that it's mostly plastic, so it doesn't mar the inside of my car like a metal box would.  If I were getting another case, I'd want a very tough all-plastic case that closes like a bank vault.
