Reaming and Throating Update

I reamed the 45 Colt BC carbine to 454 Casull. It shoots much better. About 3" groups at 100 yds compared to all over the place before. Shooting 300 gr lead FP bullets with a case full of Trailboss. I think I ain't shoving these heavy bullets fast enuf with this powder. Maybe 454 brass would hold more Trailboss... I am striving for a subsonic load...may have to try a lighter bullet.
On the 45-70...shoots great after throating It shot good  before. I shot 405 grain lead , 350 grain lead and 300 grain jacketed...all to close to point of aim and groups of 1 to 2". These with a full case of Trailboss. These are going quite a bit faster than the carbine loads with all that Trailboss behind them. Got a kick to 'em too. No signs of overpressure. I will figure out a subsonic load for this rifle also.
I am very happy at this point with both rifles. I like Trailboss too. Use a dipper and pick size to fill to bottom of bullet on these rounds. Thanks for all the help...and Tim, the box is in the mail ! Thank You.    Pete

For the carbine, my go to load is 23 gr. Reloader7.  I use Hornady 300gr XTP Magnums personally, handles the velocity well.  If you want subsonic though, it is a bit over that.    I'd think that based on my loads for the Blackhawk, about 9.5 gr. Unique should get you about the speed you want.  It doesn't fill the case, but doesn't need to.  I get good consistency with that load.

Yep, mines the convertible too.  After a slightly bumpy start, it'd be the last gun that leaves my fold now.    I took my 6 point with a 240 gr. Sierra Sportsmaster HP and 11 gr. Unique last season.
