Reloading slugs.
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:54:13 PM »
I want to buy a slug mold to reload slugs. I want to know what is an accurate load. I will be loading them for an H & R ultra slug 20ga. I want to load them fairly light for my boys and my step daughter. Good accuracy to 100 yards. I don't care about shooting 200 yards. Most shots will be will in 50 yards. Ive been looking at the lyman over sized air rifle pellet. But, let me know what you all have found that works great!!!

Hello Pozoutdoors, I would not reccomend the Lyman slug mold for 20 ga.
Get your kids started on a Lee mold for .575" RB loads of 290 gr in a Commander wad, very accurate and deadly and will not kick like a mule.

Here you can use CSD wads and let the fun begin:

all your choices are here with CSD wad and how you trim them for fit

Cook your own home made slugs for pennies a load

Hoping it helps you.

Warmest regards,

Here's another load...kinda looks like one of the old Paradox cartridges:

Rocky Mt. Cartridge co. 12 gauge brass (lathe turned), Win. 209, primer, BPI Thug Slug, 75 grains of SR4759. Bolt gun only.

And a simpler load: Fiocchi hull 616 primer...a .690 LRB in a BPI Light Brush wad and a gas seal atop 23 grains of SR7625. Roll crimped.
