CZ 550 Safari stock question?
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:21:14 AM »
Well I found a good deal on a brand new (takeoff) CZ550 Magnum Safari stock with the "humpback".  Trouble is I ain't sure if this really is a Magnum Safari Stock.  I know the older magnum stocks didn't not have cross bolts and CZ started putting a single bolt in the wrist about 6 or 7 years ago.  The manual I have says the Safari Magnums have one crossbolt but this stock has 2 cross bolts, neither in the wrist, one on either side of the magazine area.  I thought it might be a CZ550 medium but the stock dimensions and reliefs exactly match my 416 rigby stock.   I don't have a Medium frame gun to compare this stock against.  Anybody out there have a CZ550 Magnum Safari with 2 crossbolts?
thanks

It is my understanding that there were a high rate of stock splits with the Magnum calibers. So CZ began adding dual crossbolts to help with the problem. Mine was made about the time of the changeover and it does have dual crossbolts.

It.s foolish to build a big rifle without crossbolts. Mine has none, but only in 375 H&H. I glassed it in,and the 375 is rather mild anyway.
