7.62 x 39 barrel blank for 32-20 or 327 mag?
« on: April 17, 2013, 10:55:17 AM »
Been looking for a barrel blank to build either a 32-20 or 327 mag barrel with - have not been able to find any surplus 303 barrels or even new 32-20 blanks.  Noticed that Green Mountain has 7.62 x 39 blanks that are .300 bore and .311 groove.  Any thoughts on whether one of these might work for a .32 project? My biggest concern is the pilot on the reamer not fitting in the tighter bore (GM lists their 32-20 pistol blank as .306 bore / 312 groove).  I would be renting a reamer.  I have read that the Ruger Single Six 32 mag  and possibly the TC Contender used a .30 cal barrel......

Gunparts Inc has 303 barrels, they are marked DP only, usually ment they had excess headspace, I have never gotten one of them with a bad bore.  Larry

if you are shooting cast, it might be worth it to look for a .308 barrel, and a live pilot that you can get reduced to fit the bore.

for jacketed, I doubt it matters as much.

The $60.00 one, it came with sights on it.  1219060 is the part number to search for.  Larry
