This thread is gonna cost me money....I'm lookin at some of those package deal kits at Track of the Wolf. Hmmm. Got too many projects though.

How can the forend be only 1/8" or even less thick? You lost me there. Isn't that awfully thin?

I tell ya, putting one of these things together is great fun!   ;D  But I always thought you'd miss a lot of the stock work fun if ya used one of those fully shaped and inlet stocks.    :-\  But I also decided that if I ever build a French Trade Fusil for myself I'll use one of those "all the work is done" stocks.   ;D

Hi-ebber, and day always be a hi-ebber,  :)  if I build an English or New England Fowler it will be from a blank.  I'm nothing if not consistently inconsistent!   ::)

I'll post a picture of the forend which has been worked down to the 1/8 inch line.  The upper forend will eventually come down to 1/16 inch.  Yes it's thin, but a longrifle is 'spouse to be long, svelte and graceful!   ;D  Remember, rifles is like wimmins.  If you like "healthy" wimmins, you'll probably prefer some type of plains rifle!   ;) ;D

This is the rifle I'm loosely basing mine on.  Look at the forend.   ;)
