Lee:  as I recall, the 5906 was a double stack version of the Model 39, a very successful S&W autoloader in 9mm.  I don't recall hearin gof any quirks with this particular model but maybe some of the other shooters on this forum have additional insights they can share.  HTH.  Mikey.

I carried a 5906 when I was a cop (was a cop for 3 years before becoming an Army officer).  It wasn't my first choice; I'd prefer a larger, single-stack cartridge.  My S.O. dictated that we carried THEIR issue gun, not one of our choosing.  I like larger calibers for power, and single stacks due to my smaller hand size.  I'm 5-10" but my hands are pretty small for a guy.  A single stack 1911 is about perfect for me.

Anyway, the gun itself has no problems.  Like I said, my only beef was that it didn't fit MY hand well.  If it fits yours well, go for it.  It's a trustworthy gun.  The only jam I ever had was when I failed to seat the magazine all the way; the problem was mine, not the gun's.
