ITRC Anybody?

Hopefully this is not to OT for this thread.
I didn't even know this existed till a couple of months ago and I hope that we can get some more specialty handguns involved (TC shooters probably make up the largest group of specialty pistol users).
The International Tactical Rifleman's Championship (ITRC) is the last weekend in August, in Gillette, Wyoming. Steve (my hunting buddy) and myself will be competing as a team with specialty handguns. If you have curiosity or interest in competing whether with a handgun or rifle the website for more info is www.dlsports.com
Dave Lauck of D+L Sports is the man in charge and can answer any questions that you may have after checking the website. The more the better. Wouldn't it be great to see several handgun teams shooting against Law Enforcement & Military snipers?

That would be fun, it's been years since I've done any competition shooting, other than trap. Have to see what schedule's look like.

Pat,
Hopefully, I will best some rifle shooters in August, but my main goal is to shoot my best, learn, meet some great shooters, and just have fun.  Some of these guys have shot here before and for others it is their vocation.

onesonek,
Love to have you join the fun.  You will need a partner however, as this is a team competition.  Marc S. and a friend of his is planning to compete.  On their team one will shoot a Contender and the other an Encore.

Pistol distance is only 50 yds. ... sounds like a good game for a TC.

Team Nelson,
Pistol distance is out to 50 yards (most targets will be closer).  I will be using a Glock 9mm for this as they prefer a typical revolver or semi-auto cartridges to be used for the handgun targets, which I believe are white.  Steve and I each must carry a revovler or a semi-auto in a an appropiate holster and carry 25 rounds ( i think) each.   I guess we could use a Contender in a straight wall case cartridge but the time could be such that we would not be able to finish the course of fire (there is a time limit at each station).  On top of that I don't own a Contender product at the moment.  Score is also based on accuracy and time.  On the  last day we won't carry that kind of weapon.  On all the other courses with the exception of the helicopter course, we will use specialty handguns instead of the carbine and LR rifle.   I will be shooting at the LR targets and Steve will be shooting the carbine targets (With XP's not rifles).
Below is an explanation of what Steve & I will use that I had already posted on another thread.
I will likely use my 6.5-284 XP-100. My 7.82 Patriot XP is my back-up rig. Steve will be using his 224 Vais XP, with his 6.5-284 XP being his back-up rig. I just recieved 300 rounds of Lapua brass for my 6.5-284 this week. I am going to try to do everything possible to get the best groups possible. Scope will either be a 3-12 Burris LER w/Ballistic Plex with target turrets or a 20x LER Leupold/Siebert. Haven't shot any in 2004 yet. Waiting for weather to warm up first. Also have a lot of case prep to do. Once weather permits will consistently shoot out to 600 yards which is the length of my range here. The later in the year will go into the country and shoot in fields to replicate actual competition more. Will be using Harris bi-pod and or my pack as my rest set-up. I enjoy Long Range shooting and have been able to attend the past Long Range Shooting Clinics in Nebraska. Even made a first attempt and wrote an article on Long Range Handgun Hunting. I have no doubt that I will have a lot of fun, learn a lot, and at the same time be humbled by some outstanding shooters.

Can't join you in the match.  I have been shooting the 500 meter (547 yards) course at the Rifle Silhouette range for 3 years now.

Last month I administered our first 40 shot match at our range.  We had 6 Thompson shooters and one XP.  We had a great time.

Have you ever shot Hi power rifle silhouette?  It is a great game.

I wish you well at the up and coming match.

Never have shot highpower or sillywets.  Most shoots are on Sunday which are out for me (I'm a preacher).

Just re-checked the web page the other day and they have added a chopper course.  They even supply the AR's and the ammo.  I have never been in a helicopter before little alone shooting out of one--This is going to be some kind of experience.
