Camo for your gun
« on: April 20, 2013, 06:20:42 AM »
Anyone use the dip kits to camo your guns and accessories?  MyDipKit.com and TimbersEdgeCamo.com have the kits availiable and it seems pretty simple to use.

Also thinking about putting that pattern on some of the Moose and Caribou skulls I have out in the shed.  The only reason I have not mounted them is that I have 5to boil the skulls in Bleach to whiten them, and it's so much trouble.  If I dipped them I would then mount them on a plack and hang them on the wall.

Haven't tried the Dip Kits... would be a different look on a mount... I am over the big game mounts... had a couple dozen and got tired of looking at them, gave them away to friends with camps and some hunting lodges.

Rog,
I just looked at the mydipkit site and saw a few coated H&R firearms in their gallery. I wonder how much product comes in one kit? $69 wouldn't be too bad for just one gun, but it would be even better if you could do two from one kit.

Thanks, Dinny

I must be cheap.  For 20 bucks in rattle can camo  paint, I can do several guns and a few other things...  I'm doubt that shinny woodland print is going to make you any less obvious to deer anyway.

Dinny:  Mydipkit won't ship to Alaska, so I have an order in to Timbersedge.  I'll let everyone know how it turns out.  Timbersedge cost more, but sends a bigger kit.  I'm going to do the wife's shotgun first, then some of the things I take into camp when hunting.  Things that are shinny like my 460 Smith.  The 45-70 will probably be the first Handi to get the treatment.  I'll send pictures once it's done.

Got notified by both companies that they can not ship to Alaska.  The small cans are restricted from going onto airplanes.  USPS and FED Ex both ship by air.  They don't do business with UPS that does ship ground to Alaska.

I went to Sportsman's Warehouse and showed the video of the product to the manager of the Hunting Dept and the Store Manager.  Maybe they can get it shipped up here.

FWIW I got a hog skull cleaned and mounted on a board. It looks to be coated . Not sure what it is but it looks nice. If you can't get the camo ( BTW sounds great) .
