Wheel bearings...

I've never had a single wheel bearing go bad. Have I just been lucky? Seems like they'd be something that would wear out fairly often.  ???

My truck had to have both replaced at 50k but i run oversized tires and that puts alot of stress on them. I just replaced the drivers side yesterday but it was because the anti lock break sensor which is built into the bearing hub broke off. Bad thing with these complete hub/bearing assemblys is there expensive. This one cost a 130 bucks. Nice thing is that there alot easier to replace. Anyone with a set of hand tools can have one off and a new one back on in about an hour. No special tools needed and it isnt rocket science.

I never used to keep a vehicle long enough to need new bearings. Had my Ford(180K) checked the other day cause I heard a squeek. They said the bearings were fine . still cant find the squeek, Guy rode with me, of course, NO squeek.  :-\
 
Now boat trailer bearings used to be a problem until "bearing buddy" came about.

You better hope if it's an F150 that it's not the U Joints. Most of the current F150's do not have replaceable U Joints. The entire driveshaft must be replaced. The factory units are also not serviceable. Better idea by Ford? Not in my book....and I drive one with this stupid affair.

No its an F250. It's a weird squeek that doesn't speed up with acceleration. I am concerned it may be u joints. just cant make it do it with mechanic onboard, Gonna keep checking. Thanks Larry

front shafts on the chevs are the same. You replace the whole shaft. there about a 140 bucks a side. All it takes is the boot covering the joint to rip and your on borrowed time.
