DWM Lugers
« on: March 27, 2013, 06:02:35 PM »
I have a chance to buy a pair of commercial DWM Lugers in .30 cal.,  from a local seller for $950.00 total. From the photos he's provided, both are all matching and appear to be in very good condition. The better conditioned one appears to have as much as 90% of its original finish. The downside is the lug for attaching a rifle stock has been ground off and a small hole drilled in the trigger guard. Other than that it's a beautiful pistol. PLEASE TALK ME OUT OF BUYING THESE!!!!  ::)  I already have one and cherish it. Lugers are beautifully designed and crafted guns. But I don't want to buy them on impulse. The angel on my right shoulder says to hold off spending the money selfishly on more toys, while the devil on my left shoulder tells me to jump on the opportunity. Aaaaauuuuggghhhh!!!!!!

I made a comittment to buy the pair. It's a chunk of money, but I don't think I can go wrong. I haven't seen single Lugers priced less than $800.00 at local gun shows. So to get a pair of these classics at such a low price is just too tempting for me to resist.  ::)

Sorry, I was just going to scream to you to GET THEM NOW, RIGHT NOW and don't wait.  Yes, it may be a chunk of change but those are investments that have already increased in value since you purchased them.

I think I understand why the stocklug was ground off - some have done that in the older days when they were concerned about the pistol being confiscated as a short barrelled carbine but with thelug ground off the stock could not be fitted.  The hole in the trigger guard is what used to be done to accomodate a trigger stop screw like you have on target model 1911s and the like but we found that a  spot of JB Weld judiciously applied and contoured on one of the flats of the trigger to sear bar release worked even better....  Great find.

Handguns are going to be better than gold. Unfortunatly
My goal in life is to have a carbon footprint the size of Al Gore's. I can be living the good life and know I am not causing global warming. Make Al your carbon standard.

Picked 'em up yesterday. I agree Mikey, they are indeed investments, and for the price I paid I feel I'm already way ahead. They're both in wonderful condition. One even has a period correct original, wood bottomed magazine. I'm looking forward to taking them both the range soon for a workout.

Now, if I can only develop enough self discipline to refrain from perusing the firearm classifieds.  ::)

You/We can't lose investment wise on any gun because if there not really a hot collectable they will be a very hot item .  Right now lugers are hot.  I been watching some priced at $1,000 that seem to jump to $1,500 and $2,000 before i grabbed them. i grabbed a stoeger luger in 22lr for now but its not a 9mm. I been wanting a german p38, a broomhandle and a luger but the cost out weighs my wants. Plus right now  im way too frugal. For now any way.
