He is trying to make fun of people that would think something like that could possibly be true.  He also made a comment about eating dog in the same tone.  He actually ate dog too ;)

The mirror image hasn't changed at all--just the age.  Oh, and the strapping part; I think he meant to say flapping in reference to his ears.
