Reeder Custom Guns TC Barrels

Has anyone tried the custom TC barrels made by Gary Reeder Custom Guns?  They look really nice on the web site, how do they shoot?  I recently ordered a barrel from them (Ultimate Encore) and am curious what other people's experience has been since I have seen little mention of them on this forum.

What did you get the barrel chambered in. With all those calibers to go with how did you do it?

Check out the Reeder Web site and they have a listing and discription of all the caliber and the benifits of them....the 22 Hornet to K hornet was a way to get a little more of a good thing....both were 21 inch Contender Barrels so the results were good...Hal

Handcanon - the one I ordered is an "Ulitmate Encore" stainless, with muzzle tamer, 16.5 inch, chambered in 375 H&H.  It should turn out something like the one show on the Reeder web site.  I have not seen any posings regarding this, but I would bet someone around this web site has done something similar.  Should be a real big boomer - I just recently put the order in although I have been contemplating it for about a year (finally got the ok from the wife).  I sent Gary Reeder a 6 hole virgin valley scope mount to put on it and had him drill an extra hole for the forearm so I can use either a pistol or rifle forearm.  I decided on the 375 H&H because of the high power for dangerous game, ammo is available almost everywhere, some African game laws limit minimum caliber to 375 for the big stuff, and my reluctance to go with a wildcat load.  I have never played around with wildcat case forming although I do reload.  I have been kicking around the idea of getting one chamberd in 405 win - there is another posing on this forum regarding that.

Gary Reeder does excellant work. He built me a custom contenter 20" bull barrel in 7 GNR. Delivered when promised 8 weeks flat with no excuses. Great looking matte finish with really nice script caliber marking. I also had Gary rechamber a barrel and add an extra set of mounting screw holes. Barrel was at my door step two weeks after I shipped. Now thats service.

Must add that the custom 7 GNR shot one hole groups @ 100 yards with federal 7-30 waters during the fireforming process. Hows that for how do they shoot!

Hey Big Gun,

I have to report on my experience with Gary Reeder!  The work took a little time to get to my doorstep, but I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait.  I have a braked and scoped 41 GNR #2 that shoots .5"-.6" groups all day long at 100 yards from a 13.5" barrel with Sierra 170's - and I'm not even a good shot!  I think Gary Reeder is definitely worth a try if you find something you like on his site.

Gary Reeder's gear is not cheap, but it's not the most expensive either.  I would recommend him highly based on my history with him.  My Gary Reeder barrel will never be for sale!

Just my $.02 worth.   :D

Safe and good shooting to you.

If I had a dollar for every time I wanted another Contender or Encore, I'd have about $855,627,452,918

I picked up a Gary Reeder barrel recently in a 308.  My problem is none of my forearms fit as the barrel is a lot bigger around then most regular barrels.  Any one know where I could pick up a forearm that might fit this barrel?

Hi Big Gun,
15" full bull stainless in 475GNR with his muzzle tamer. The muzzle tamer really works good too. Even this big bore shoots every well at 100 yards. Hits like a freight train too!  :D

daniel2013 since mine is the full bull (1" all the way) and in pistol length the T/C factory rubber forend works great. If yours is a rifle then you can take it to an end mill and open up the channel which I have also done.

It is 17 and 3/4, so it could be used either way,  I really want to use it as a pistol though.
