Thanks guys! No, I didn't make the case. The gun, case, and all accessories are a Ruger factory itme, special run in 1978. This set was commissioned by Lyman for their 100th anniversary.
I generally hate commemoratives, as they are usually gawdy, with tons of brass or gold. I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it, and was able to trade an old Ballard #2 in .38 cf/rf for it. (One of my better trades!) It's very subtle for a commemorative, with only the sides of the receiver engraved.
The case that Ruger made for this set is really overkill! The darn thing weighs in at about 75 lbs.! (more with the gun in it!)
I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they made 1,000 like this, and another 500 that were more deluxe, with the gold inlays, etc.
