I'm glad to hear that they are.  There really is a BIG problem with overpopulation and a lack of homes due to irresposible pet owners. We have 2 dogs, one of which is also fixed. The other is a 1-1/2 YO Chesapeake Bay retriever and we are going to see what he looks like at 2 to 2-1/2 years before we decide whether to snip him. He has a wonderful personality and is looking really good for beeding. But ya never know.....

We also have, what was a 3 legged female feral cat that my wife tamed and had fixed. She is a real lover. I am alergic to cats and can't be around them. But this one, I guess from being outside most of the time has something different about it's coat and I have no real problems. She carries her own weight and is a good mouser too.

I see you're in the NE. What state are you in if you don't mind me asking.

Have a HAPPY THANKSGING !!

Stay Safe,
Franz

William, you're doing just fine with your posts. I wasn't bothered with your reply one bit.

I just figured you were a cat lover.......haha, There's one old tom that's been around here for many years, I got him cut several years ago and he just hangs around the place. I can't send him to wherever good cats go because he was a kitten that one of my kids raised, and I can't get her to take him home with her cause she says this is his home.

I don't like em, but I've always had to put up with one because my girls always thought they needed one around. I don't think I've ever contributed to the feral cat population though, and I've gotten rid of several that just showed up over the years.
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

armycar01 - Two years ago while I was hunting in Maine I was walking down a tote road and a hare starts down the road towards me and behind him comes a fisher snarling like heck, hot on his trail! The hare comes up next to me and stops! I swear he was sitting next to me, looking at the fisher as if to say nah! nah! he's got a gun! Well the fisher hops up on a stump about 15 feet from us and still growling and trying to make up his mind about going after the hare, me or no me! So I send a 180gr Nosler into the stump underneath him and that made up his mind for him! Took off like a shot down the road and cut into the woods about 500 yards from me. The hare never moved until the fisher cut into the woods then it dashed into the woods on the other side. Those fisher's are one mean animal! A trapper in the area told me later that I passed up about 50 bucks worth of fur! O well live and learn! CEJ...
If I can't take my rifles with me, I don't want to go!

Several years ago I was leaving the woods at dusk. I heard a terrible scream best described as a woman screaming in terrible pain. Heard it three times. Some folks tell me it could have been a bobcat. Others say it was a great northern owl. Could it have been a fisher? (This is in South Jersey and bobcats and fishers are not supposed to be here but some folks say we do have bobcats.)

seeing as how i know nothing of your local wildlife i don't know if this would fit with what THAT encounter could have been.  But it fits with a wild feline of some sort.

was staying with an aunt and Uncle in Central MS about 10 years ago when everyone int eh house was awoken by a similar noise (like a woman being tortured, made my skin crawl) comming from the large backyard that abuts a fairly decent wooded area. this noise continues for a minute or two after we realize that the whole house is awake, and my uncle decides that whatever it is HAS to be inside the yard and tells us to watch out the windows while he goes and turns on the "going to the barn" lights (he has several stategicly placed floodlights wired to the same switch, one flick and about 90% of the yard is lit up, keeps him from stepping in holes etc).....
lights come on and there about 20 yards from the edge of the trees stands a dark colored (didn't quite look black, more really dark brown or something) panther!!   dern thing just stood there for a few seconds sorta looking like "Huh? what the heck is THIS!?!" then took off for a less illuminated region....

uncle turns off the yard lights, turns to us and says "well least now we have an idea what's been eating all them dogs" (a number of dogs had been disappearing, some obviously taken by some large critter).  we never saw the thing again, but we did call and report the sighting to the state wildlife folks.  since i went back home at the end of that week i have no idea what happened after that.
